Dance Collaborator & Instructor
Star Larson is a dancer, choreographer, teaching artist, and movement practitioner based in Western New York. They began dancing at the age of nine at Tiffany Wakeley Academy of Dance in Jamestown, New York, and later earned a BFA in Dance from Slippery Rock University, with a concentration in Studio Ownership and Dance Entrepreneurship. Star has trained in a wide range of forms, including modern, contemporary, ballet, tap, jazz, Bharatanatyam, house, and more. Their movement style is strongly influenced by the release technique of José Limón and continues to evolve through an ongoing exploration of movement, vulnerability, music, and self-expression.
Star is one of the original company members of Sukanya Burman Dance and performed with the company in the inaugural Jamestown Dance Festival production of The Bayadere: The Past, Present, and the Future. They also performed in SBD’s new work We Tried to be Normal, which premiered at Jamestown Pride in 2026. In 2025, Star returned to the festival as a featured regional artist, presenting original choreographic work as part of the Regional Artist Showcase. Through both performance and choreography, Star’s work reflects a deep interest in movement as a raw, honest, and community-centered form of creative expression.
