SBDC is looking for a Dance Artist:
Sukanya Burman Dance Company is looking for 3 dancers (male/female identifying or non-binary) for an upcoming dance residency project funded by New York State Choreographer's Initiative. Artists must be dynamic movers who are passionate about the creative process.
New York State Choreographers’ Initiative is funded by the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) and administered by the NYS DanceForce, which is a NYSCA partner and a program of the American Dance Asylum Inc.
The residency will be led by choreographer, Sukanya Burman (Artistic Director, Sukanya Burman Dance Company) and mentored by Teresa Cuevas (Artistic Director, Indorican Multicultural Project). The dance residency will explore the balance and intersection of Western Modern Dance and Indian Classical Dance vocabularies in different dancing bodies.
Location: Jamestown, NY
Dancer requirements:

Must be 18 years or older - Experience in any of the following forms: Modern, Jazz, Kathak, Bharatanatyam, West African, Afro-Cuban or any traditional dance practice.

Dancers should be comfortable with improvisation and storytelling. Dancers should also be able to learn choreography quickly.

Must be available for the proposed residency dates below.
Residency Timeline:
Week 1: August 27 & 28 : 10 AM - 3 PM
Week 2: October 22 & 23 : 10 AM - 3 PM
Compensation: Dancers are paid $40/hr. with an hour long unpaid lunch break i.e. $320 for each residency week. Food and mileage reimbursement (for out of town artists) will also be provided.
